CLEANING PIG
Cleaning Pigs are made in either with 2 or 4 cups construction or with Bi Di Pigs. Cleaning Pigs are fitted with Brushes with metal or plastic bristles. Two main types of brushes attached to the Pigs are Circular Wire Brushes & Spring Loaded Brushes.
The Circular wire brushes are either fitted at the front portion of the Pigs or at the Middle of the Pigs.
Spring Loaded Brushes are fitted on the circumference of the steel mandrel to effectively cover the 360 degrees of the Pipeline.
A1) With By pass ports :Cleaning large amount of debris would under normal conditions result in it becoming
compacted around the Pig & prevents the pig from moving forward. To overcome this, by pass is introduced across
the Pig Body. Small Jetting heads induce turbulence, keeping debris ins suspension & causing slurry flushing in front of the Pig.
The cleaning Pig acts as SCRAPPER & it is why it is also called as SCRAPPER PIGS, scraps thoroughly through out
its in journey inside the Pipeline removing mill scales, debris, rusts, small stones, welding electrodes, dead animals etc… from the pipeline.
VPE also supplies Plough blades for cleaning the thick wax coated or heavily scaled slushy scales.
BATCHING PIG
Batching Pigs are generally made with 2 or 4 cups attached to the steel mandrel.
Gauging pigs are used for gauging the dimensions of the pipeline before product is launched in the pipeline.
Cups are generally made out of Polyurethane.
For short distance batching or dewatering applications Rubber Cups out of Neoprene/ Nitrile Rubber are used.
MAGNETIC PIG
The steel mandrel Pigs either Bi-Di or Cup Pigs are fitted with Permanent Ferro Magnets along the circumference of the mandrel to capture the loose metal particles like dust, nails, or any metal objects commonly found in many pipelines.
The No. of Magnets & its spacing depends on the length of Pigging, type of particles expected inside the pipeline.These are preferably cleaned after every run for effectiveness during subsequent runs.

GAUGING PIGS
The Gauging Pigs are fitted with Aluminium Gauge plates. This is predominantly used during new line commissioning for evaluating the circularity, welding penetration etc… which gives the rough idea about the internals of the pipeline when the pig is received after passing through the line.
The damage caused to the Aluminium gauge plate which is generally 95% of the Pipeline ID reveals the condition of the Pig.
DUAL DIA PIGS
In some sections of the Pipelines – pipes of different diameters like 6” welded 8” or 10” pipelines, so pigs must be designed to negotiate both the pipelines during its continuous travel without losing its sealing ability.
The discs or cups are designed to accommodate such a proposition.
COMMISSIONING PIGS
Commissioning Pigs are designed for commissioning a new pipeline with additional precaution to ensure Pigs is able to travel to the maximum distance without losing sealing & ensuring max. Safety for the newly laid pipeline.
